Tom Hanks-2-1024x767Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born on the 9th of July, 1956. He is an American actor as well as a filmmaker and director. Known for both his dramatic and comedic performances, he is considered to be one of the most admired and well-known film stars around the world, and is regarded as an American cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born in Concord, California, to Janet Marylyn a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks, an itinerant cook. His mother was initially named "Fraga" while his father was predominantly English. Tom was born into what he has called an "fractured" family. He was not an actor in college and credits the fact that he could not get a role in a college production as the reason he did not begin his career. He auditioned in the city to be cast in a play at the theater for community members. Director offered him a trip to Cleveland and that was where his acting career began.
